Video Açıklaması NST Tesla Coil retuned and using a corona ringThis is my homemade Tesla Coil running with a new corona ring around the secondary. I've been having problems with breakout at the top of the secondary windings. Not too bad and haven't had any racing arcs yet. But thought I'd try a corona ring before up'ing the power. At this point I'm running about 600-700 watts of input power. The tuning isn't quite right and you see alot of variability in the arcs due to the NST filter protection spark gaps firing. The longest arcs are about 18" (1.4 million volts). I'm turning the primary power off when there are ground strikes or when the filter gaps fire. When these fire the primary also fires and introduces harmonics, but at least the NST is protected. I'm using a 12,000 Volt 100mA Neon Sign Transformer. The capacitor bank is 132 russian surplus caps making 0.023uF at 24,000 volts. It has it's own protective spark gap currently set to 8,000 volts. I don't think this secondary and supply combination is matched very well, but it's a nice display considering it's my first coil design. The video does not show how bright these arcs really are, this was filmed with my Canon SD450 digital camera which can take video (although not very high frame rates) |
